OPUS 3 JAZZ TRIO IS IN HONG KONG!!!!!
The band is performing nightly(Mon.- Sat.) with vocalist, Tess Collins, at the well-known 'Captains Bar', a jazz club located in Central Hong Kong inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It seems we can't get away from the nautical theme. However, it's a very cool bar and it attracts many locals, visitors and business people. It's definitely a far cry from cruise ship life and I have to get Jane to pinch me just to make sure I'm not dreaming!
In October, Christmas came a bit early for me. Within two weeks I signed two endorsements deals on with 'Sabian Cymbals' and on with 'Vic Firth Drumsticks & Brushes'. I can't tell you how much it means to be affiliated with two of the industries leaders in drumming today. In my opinion, Vic Firth has always made the best drumsticks in the world and I have been playing them since I was in music school in Boston (not too long ago!).
I made the switch to Sabian Cymbals after 30 years of playing professionally. I've been looking at other cymbal companies for a while. I felt I needed a change. I even went to Istanbul, Turkey where the cymbal was invented in 1623. It was not till we were back in the States and I was at a Guitar Center in LA and saw a beautiful Sabian ride cymbal. I hit it a couple of times and said, "That is it! That is what I am looking for in my sound'. Since then on I have never looked at another cymbal company.
